The Weight of Light
A solo exhibition of fourteen new paintings by Mara Vos, made on reclaimed canvas.
This exhibition gathers two years of work made in Mara Vos’s harbour studio in Rotterdam.
Each piece is built from earth pigments in thin layers so that light sits on the surface rather than sinking into it. The works are hung in a sequence that walks the visitor from the darkest canvas to the brightest.
The opening is held in the presence of the artist.
